A WOMAN has revealed how she transformed her Honda hatchback into a cozy camper using plywood and a £4.85 Amazon find.
Tashai, who runs a YouTube channel dedicated to providing a “gateway to an extraordinary life after 40”, showed her followers how she went about the conversion process.
YouTube adventurer Tashai built a bed in her Honda hatchback[/caption] All it took was some plywood boards and some know how[/caption] A blanket laid underneath helped to even out the surface[/caption]First of all, she stripped out the back seats to give herself a blank canvas to work on.
Tashai said this was “super easy” as all it required was loosening a couple of bolts.
Once that was done, she went to a local DIY shop and picked up some lengths of wood and plywood boards to form the base of the bed.
Her top tip for these was to try and find a lumber yard or timber merchant, who will often cut your wood down to size for free or a small fee if you ask them.
Then all Tashai had to do was sand down her boards to prevent splinters as she slept.
Just make sure that you let the boards air for a few days after you do this to allow the resin that you have scratched off to dissipate or else you could breathe in harmful chemicals.

- USB rechargeable hand warmer (£12.99 on Amazon)
- Thermal pyjamas
- Cozy socks
- Thermal insulation foil around windows and door
- Cold-weather sleeping bag
- Plenty of blankets
Then you can lay them across the floor of your car, though it’s a good idea to lay a blanket or some padding down first to even out the surface.
Tashai also nailed the planks to the bottom of the boards to allow them to rest across the lip where the seats once were at one end and the boot frame at the other.
As a mattress, she put down a pair of memory foam pads over the board for some extra luxury, before arranging her bedding on top.
These mats can be found on Amazon for as little as £4.85, making them a great option for budget comfort.
Tashai even cut out a little corner of her bed frame to accommodate a cooler box in the footwell, allowing her to enjoy chilled drinks on warmer days.
She said: “I have a bed in my Honda Accord now.
“It’s really comfortable.”
Social media commenters loved the quirky idea.
One said: “It’s surprising just how simple this was.
“Thanks for sharing, I’m sure it will help a lot of people.”
Another added: “I think I might sleep better in the back of a Honda than I do in my studio apartment.”
It comes after one driver shared how a £1 B&M item can remove scratches from your car in seconds.
Meanwhile, motorists were left raving over a “secret” one-touch seat and steering wheel warming trick.
